Mill-turn Machinists Needed

Job Description

Mill-turn machinist needed for a day shift (6am-2:30pm) for machine shop located in Garden Grove, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC Mill Turning centers and a strong mechanical aptitude. Compensation will be based on experience but will be between $28-$32 an hour with the option to go higher with programming experience (Catia or Esprit), with the potential for higher pay for those with programming experience.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.

  • Setup and operate CNC Mill Turning centers such as NL, NLX, and NTX models.

  • Responsible for setup and operation of more than one machine at one time when required.

  • Use inspection tools (such as height gauges, optical comparators, thread gauges, plug gauges, micrometers, verniers, indicators, etc.) to check in-process work for adherence to specifications and complete written inspection reports.

  • Accurately complete paperwork related to counts, scrap, time, etc., according to company policy, such as First Article Inspection results, job travelers, non-conformance reports, and/or any associated paperwork.

  • Collect data and follow data collection procedures at the workstation for each operation.

  • Make edits and adjustments as required to produce parts per work order/blueprint specifications.

  • Maintain and monitor the performance of the machine and/or equipment for signs of problems, such as vibrating work pieces or breakage of cutting tools.

  • Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

  • Participate in continuous improvement teams and activities.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with setup and operation of CNC Mill-Turn machines.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills, particularly in trigonometry.

  • Ability to read blueprints and proficient use of standard measuring equipment.

  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to operate CNC machines.

  • Ability to interact with operations team members and work well in a fast-paced, dynamic, and time-sensitive environment.

  • Quick learner with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Some college or technical school work is preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with setup and operating CNC Mill-Turn machines.

  • Knowledge of programming with software such as Catia, Mastercam, and Esprit.

  • Overtime required when necessary (weekdays or weekends).

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00
