JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for all operational aspects of graduate business programs including recruiting, enrollment, student advising, coordinating graduate student assistantship applications, completing external ranking surveys, and liaising external partners. Works closely with university offices, recruitment partners, online program managers (OPMs) academic directors of graduate programs, department chairs, and director of accreditation.

The Willumstad School offers the MBA Program weeknights on its Garden City campus, a Professional Accelerated MBA Program in Garden City, online and at off-site locations, and 4+1 programs. In addition, Master of Science in Business Analytics, Professional Accounting and Supply Chain Management programs are offered at Garden City. The School is expanding its portfolio of graduate programs with new degrees offerings and delivery locations being planned.

Title Position Reports To: Associate Dean

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Graduate Admissions and Enrollment

  • Actively recruit students for the various graduate programs. Organize and staff open houses and information sessions on and off-campus. Meet with current Adelphi undergraduate students, hold spot admission days.

  • Market programs to achieve enrollment goals. Collaborate with appropriate university offices and Willumstad staff to prepare publicity and marketing materials, including website and social media content. Advise and assist with marketing campaigns.

  • Oversee non-AUI admissions for students.

  • Enroll and advise new and continuing students. Work with graduate advisor and academic directors to share advising responsibilities.

    Student Support

  • Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all students. Provide exceptional customer service by explaining the College’s portfolio of programs, expected outcomes, student services, and financial considerations to prospective graduate students.

  • Ensure international students receive effective support by working with International Services and other offices. Provide appropriate orientation, and offering guidance on issues on where students can get information on visa status and other requirements.

  • Address student issues and concerns promptly and sensitively.

  • Oversee and award select scholarships for graduate students.

  • Manage the probation process and collaborate with the graduate advisor and academic program directors to support students on probation.

  • Manage the academic misconduct process and work with the department chair, associate dean, academic standards committee, and/or academic program directors on cases of alleged misconduct.

  • Ensure university and school policies are complied with.

    Program Management

  • Assist with course planning by informing the associate dean and department chairs know the courses needed for each graduate program each semester.

  • Coordinate non-credit modules for students lacking necessary pre-requisites.

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and apply policies.

  • Maintain the graduate student handbook.

  • Prepare and administer study satisfaction and assurance of learning surveys.

  • Oversee and update the graduate student catalog.

  • Maintain post-graduation contact information of students.

  • Advise the dean on trends in graduate education.

  • Maintain student records and report on enrollment and student success data.

  • Complete external survey instruments for rankings.

  • Manage external partnerships (e.g., AUI, UHUB, Risepoint, Catholic Health).

  • Work with department chairs, director of accreditation, and academic directors of graduate programs to ensure curriculum is current, appropriate standards are set, and suitable faculty are assigned to courses.

  • Provide information to faculty regarding program-specific requirements and expectations (e.g. the required number on on-campus class sessions for UHUB students, book orders for Catholic Health students)

    Leadership and Supervision

  • Foster a strong team culture, positive communication, and a healthy work environment through effective leadership.

  • Supervise the graduate advisor, providing coaching and feedback throughout the year to ensure performance expectations are met.

  • Oversee the work of the Graduate Assistant (GA) coordinator.

  • Cultivate and manage a broad spectrum of internal and external working relationships.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Detail-oriented, ability to organize and prioritize work demands.

  • Competency with using spreadsheet and course management tools.

  • Able to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiency and accurately in a busy work environment with many interruptions.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess situations, obtain appropriate information and make sound judgment and independent decisions appropriate for the position level.

  • Able to work on weekends, evenings, and off-campus.

  • Able and willing to understand, interpret, and apply policies and take executive decisions.

  • Familiar with graduate business programs.

  • Creative and outgoing.

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative without constant supervision.

  • Strong commitment to customer service

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. The job will require travel to off-campus sites and to offices of employers using personal vehicle and/or public transportation.

    EDUCATIONAL/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree, preferably an MBA; three years college/university level program experience and/or academic experience.

  • Strong communication skills (written and speaking) in English.

    POSITION(S) SUPERVISED:

    Graduate Advisor(s), Graduate Student Assistants, Administrative Assistant, and Student Workers.
