Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent and 2 years of related experience or Master's degree in basic science or equivalent and no experience required.

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of routine and non-routine research assignments and experiments and assists with lab maintenance responsibilities.

Job Duties:

Critical duties consist of data collection and carrying out research protocols, consisting of:

  • Surgical preparation and post-surgical care of experimental rats and mice.

  • Behavioral assessments of experimental rats and mice

  • Operate, calibrate & troubleshoot surgical and non-surgical equipment.

  • Sample collection of biological fluids, up to BSL2 level

  • Perform tissue collection at necropsy.

Other routine duties will consist of the following:

  • Plan, coordinate and direct moderately complex research experiments following general technical procedures.

  • Establish and oversee quality control measures for assigned project operations.

  • Maintain records of all tests performed and data collected, compiles and tabulates data, provides analysis of results.

  • Assist in tabulation of data and analysis of results.

  • Ensure the accurate assembly, calibration, operation, and modification of laboratory equipment according to guidelines.

  • Maintain lab for animal and environmental safety compliance.

  • Adhere to internal controls established for the department.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a research setting, prior animal experience. Prior BSL2 experience. Experience in working with good laboratory practice, tabulating, interpreting, and analyzing data.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience.
