Cedar Fair Aquatics Area Manager in GALVESTON, Texas

Overview:

Waterpark Operations Area Managers oversee all aquatic, safety and cleanliness related areas of park. This person ensures compliance of staffing guidelines, water is safe for operation and that operations is flowing smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Includes but is not limited to overall throughput of the waterpark, guest concerns, opening and closing of the park, inclement weather protocols, proper staffing levels of all sub-departments, associate interaction, and cross communication between all departments as it pertains to overall waterpark operations.

  • Aquatic safety is the primary function - this includes but is not limited lifeguard and ride operator training, weekly in-service trainings, and associate interaction as it pertains to proper 10/20 and environmental concerns.

  • Responsible for weekly ride inspections, monthly in-water grate inspections, monthly mangers controls inspection and duty manager reports.

  • Associate engagement to encourage associates to come to work. This also includes associate appreciation, parties, and weekly raffles of large ticket items.

  • Recognize and reward instances where an associate performs well and coach and counsel when as associate has an opportunity to improve and learn.

  • Notice, document, assign and follow-up with cleanliness projects throughout the park.

  • Financial acumen as it pertains to maintaining budgets versus forecast.

  • The hiring and staffing process in key to maintaining optimal operations of the waterpark. This all starts with job requisitions and carries through the interview and hiring process. This requires constant communication between managers, dispatch and Human Resources.

  • Maintain the park at 100% safety levels, keep staff at exceeds level performance, and make sure that leadership is taking care of our line level associates. This includes but is not limited to CPR audits, lifeguard visual audits, ride dispatch times, supervisor presence inspections and overall audits of daily paperwork.

  • Clerical work that includes but is not limited to emails, purchase orders and ordering, inventory of supplies, audit tracking, first aid trend reports and many more.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Bachelors Degree in management, recreation, hospitality, or related field

  • CPO Preferred

  • OSHA Cert Preferred

  • E&A Instructor License preferred

  • 4-6 years related expirience

  • Must be able to read and write.

  • Must be able to read English at a high school level.

  • Must be able to write in English at a high school level, including proper grammar and punctuation.

  • Must be able to use a computer to type basic reports.

Physical Requirements:

  • Climbing, balancing stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, picking, pinching, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motion of the hands, wrists and/or fingers.

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Exposure to environmental conditions such as rain, direct/indirect sun and heat for extended periods of time.

  • Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
