LifePoint Health Market Director of Health Information Management in Gallatin, Tennessee

Responsible for coordinating and providing internal consultative Health Information Management services at the HighPoint facilities, focusing on action plan development and compliance with the various system initiatives and requirements. Directs the HIM and CDI department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization Drag Edit Delete

Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives Drag Edit Delete

Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives Drag Edit Delete

Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding Drag Edit Delete

Oversee hospital-based HIM Directors and coordinate initiatives across facilities to ensure standardization and sharing of best practices Drag Edit Delete

Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and company compliance policies, ensuring timely staff education Drag Edit Delete

Inform HIM management and staff regarding payer requirements, significant changes and developments Drag Edit Delete

Ensure quality review measurements are in place at each facility Drag Edit Delete

Coordinate and promote implementation and monitoring of standard master files, processes, reporting and education programs Drag Edit Delete

Assist HIM staff in company-wide initiates such as the development of operational models, and education programs for educational compliance Drag Edit Delete

Oversee management of HIM personnel, providing recommendation for hiring, promotion, salary adjustment and personnel action where appropriate Drag Edit Delete

Follow overall market trends and communicate significant shifts to HIM Leadership and others as appropriate Drag Edit Delete

Develop specific objectives, budgets and performance standards for each area of responsibility Drag Edit Delete

Identify and implement process improvements to lower costs and improve services to facility customers Drag Edit Delete

Perform staff reviews and prepare performance documents for direct reports Drag Edit Delete

Ensures that records are complete, accurate, and conform to accepted TJC and state board of health standards. Reports any variations noted and new regulations or requirements to the Med Staff QA committee Drag Edit Delete

Participates in and represents Health Information Management in the hospital and medical staff committees. Drag Edit Delete

Maintains current knowledge base of the various reimbursement systems that affect the facility. i.e. DRG’s, APC’s, HCPCS, CPT, modifiers, etc. Oversees and coordinates the training and education of staff to reimbursement methodologies Drag Edit Delete

Manages department automation, such as Abstracting, MPI, and birth certificates Drag Edit Delete

Participates in the evaluation and selection of software solutions relating to Health Information Management Drag Edit Delete

Serves as a liaison and resource for the Quality Management and Utilization Review areas. Provides input on issues that might impact the medical record and Health Information Management. Drag Edit Delete

Provide development guidance and assists in the identification, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s privacy policies and procedures Drag Edit Delete

Initiates, facilitates, and promotes activities to foster privacy awareness within the organization Drag Edit Delete

Works with staff involved with the release of information of protected health information, to ensure full compliance and cooperation under the organization’s policies and procedures Drag Edit Delete

Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards and monitors advancement in information privacy technologies to ensure organization compliance

Minimum Education Bachelor’s in Health Information Management (Medical Record Administration) - Required Drag Edit Delete

Required Skills Licenses: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Drag Edit Delete

Minimum Work Experience Five years HIM (Clinical Information/Medical Records) leadership experience - Required
