LifePoint Health Asst Director - Surgery/OR in Gallatin, Tennessee

Assists with the daily direction of personnel and resources within a clinical specialty or department. Provide clinical leadership necessary for coordinating and managing resources that contribute to high quality care in a cost effective manner. To collaborate with physicians and others to ensure optimal patient care during surgical procedures. Responsible for the Laser Safety Program in the Operating Room.

Reports to: Director - Surgical Services

Coordinates staff scheduling, educational/development activities, and performance evaluations. Drag Edit Delete

Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services. Drag Edit Delete

Performs quality assurance studies and assists with implementation of QA/QI initiatives. Drag Edit Delete

Serves as a resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures. Drag Edit Delete

Monitors departmental compliance with applicable requirements, including accreditation, legal, and The Joint Commission. Drag Edit Delete

Performs direct patient care, within scope of practice, as necessary Drag Edit Delete

Ensures employee competence is accurately assessed, obtained, and documented Drag Edit Delete

Assists with employee corrective counseling/behavioral accountability Drag Edit Delete

Assists with productivity reports for specified areas Drag Edit Delete

Assists in obtaining pricing quotes for repairs, replacements, or newly requested equipment Drag Edit Delete

Performs duties and responsibilities for Laser Safety, as outlined in the Laser Safety Officer policy.

Minimum Education Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or Graduate of a Surgical Tech Program - Required Drag Edit Delete

Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Drag Edit Delete

Required Skills Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire. ACLS & PALS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required within 6 months of employment, if not current upon hire Drag Edit Delete

Required Skills Licenses: If educated as a Nurse, must have a State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure.

If educated through a Surgical Tech Program, must meet the following requirement: Surgical Tech Certification is required upon hire unless qualifications are met under the TCA Section 68-57-102 grandfather clause effective 7/1/2006. Surgical Assistant Certification - Required Drag Edit Delete

Minimum Work Experience 5 years of experience in Surgical Services as Nurse or Surgical Tech/First Assistant - Required
