Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description
The Phlebotomist serves patients by preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing screening standards. This role involves drawing quality blood samples and creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence. Responsibilities include blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, and more. The Phlebotomist will greet customers courteously, collect specimens according to established procedures, explain the venipuncture process clearly, and ensure a calm environment for patients. Additional duties include matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order, packaging specimens for transport, storing specimen samples according to required temperature, demonstrating proficiency in proper collection methods and processing of all specimens, understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations, attending annual department trainings, answering telephone calls, and reading laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
