Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Manager of the Cellular Therapy Lab plans, directs or coordinates operations of the laboratory, and assures adherence to the standards required for its accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act (CLIA) as well as compliance with standards of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The Manager supervises all employees in the lab and is accountable for cost control, staffing, and discipline.

What you will do in this role:

• Act as the Cell Processing Laboratory Quality Management Supervisor.

• Develop new, or revise policies and procedures in collaboration with professional staff of the Cell Processing Laboratory and the TCT department.

• Manage standard operating procedures database for the Cell Processing Laboratory.

• Establish protocols and develop mechanisms for validation of all new procedures, instrumentation and reagents for accuracy, precision, sensitivity and cost effectiveness.

• Establish and maintain quality control and quality assurance systems for all cell processing procedures to ensure reliability of equipment and processing procedures and the competency of personnel for the optimization of patient care.

• Provide supervision of the Cell Processing Laboratory.

• Maintain competency in all areas of the Cell Processing Laboratory.

• Oversees and directs procedures performed on products, serves as a clinical resource, acts as a role model for staff and is the liaison between staff and upper management.

• Assume responsibility and accountability for efficient and effective management of human and financial resources for the Cell Processing Lab.

• Works with peers in a team-leadership capacity to maintain accreditation standards as defined by FDA, FACT, CAP, JC, CLIA, AABB or other applicable accreditation organizations/regulatory agencies; and to coordinate regulatory and accreditation survey activities and follow-up to insure compliance with assistance from other departments as necessary. Manage regulatory inspections within the program.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelors in Medical Technology or related field required (chemistry, biology, etc.) required. Masters degree in Medical Technology, Health Administration or related field preferred.

• 5+ years’ experience in cell processing/cryopreservation required

• Demonstrated skills in organization, verbal and written communications, customer service, math, analysis, reading, following instruction, excellent computer skills.

• Currently licensed as a Medical Technologist and as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in the state of Florida.
