Job Description:

The Department of Urology at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a BC/BE Fellowship-Trained Urologic Oncologist at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level for a full-time faculty position.

Background.The Department of Urology is the leading academic urology program in the state of Florida. The University of Florida (UF) Department of Urology at UF Health Shands Hospital is a tertiary referral center that serves the population of north central Florida, southern Georgia and surrounding communities. The candidate would join the department, which has 20 full-time and part-time urologists who support general, endourology, urologic oncology, female, pediatric, male-infertility and reconstructive urologic surgery. In addition, the candidate would have a joint appointment at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. UF is the 5th ranked public university in the nation. The UF College of Medicine is ranked in the top 50 of all U.S. medical schools for NIH research dollars awarded to medical schools and is ranked No. 23 among public institutions. UF Health Cancer Center is an NCI designated center offering a strong research infrastructure and environment.

Clinical.Seeking a candidate with broad clinical experience in urologic oncology with a particular interest in, but not limited to, one of the following potential areas:

  • Kidney cancer: The candidate should have an interest in treating local and advanced kidney cancer employing a multi-disciplinary approach along with both robotic and open techniques and strong clinical trials involvement. UF urology has a strong multi-disciplinary approach for advanced kidney cancer patients.

  • Testicular cancer: The candidate should have experience in all aspects of the evaluation and treatment of testicular cancer. Experience in open and/or robotic retroperitoneal lymph node dissection and multi-disciplinary care in conjunction with colleagues from medical oncology. Clinical trial involvement would be viewed favorably.

  • Bladder cancer: Alternatively, the candidate may have an interest in treating local and advanced bladder cancer employing a multi-disciplinary approach to clinical trials enrollment for bladder cancer patients along with medical oncology and radiation oncology.

It is expected regardless of clinical area of interest that the candidate has a strong academic research interest. The candidate would also receive excellent mentorship of two established urologic oncologists (Paul Crispen, MD Padraic O’Malley, MD and Tarik Benidir, MD).

Expected Salary:

Rank and salary commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have a M.D. degree and be licensed in or eligible for licensure in the State of Florida and be board certified or eligible.
