Jacobs Civil Engineer in Gainesville, Florida
Jacobs’ Gainesville, Florida office is looking for a highly motivated site civil engineer to work in their Engineering and Design Group supporting multi-discipline designs including site development, water/wastewater facilities, constructed wetlands, environmental remediation, conveyance projects, ports, roads and highways, etc. This position will also support Project Managers and Senior level engineers to complete planning/study documents, preliminary design, detailed design, permitting documents, and engineering reports.

Our Civil Engineers:
Perform a wide variety of routine assignments which are clearly defined and require the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
Support conceptual and detailed designs for multi-discipline projects for civil infrastructure/water/wastewater/environmental/transportation
Coordinate with other disciplines such as architects, mechanical, structural, electrical, and process
Perform civil design tasks related to:
Site development and layout
Stormwater and drainage
Roadway and pavement alignment
Grading
Erosion and sedimentation control
Site/facilities layout
Utilities and conveyance piping
Complete tasks assigned on time, within budget, and to a high level of quality
Assist in the preparation of plans and specifications, engineering reports, engineer’s cost estimates, and quantity take-offs
Assist in the preparation of technical documents and reports
Assist in performing site civil design using CADD tools such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations and details
Exercise judgment required in developing plans or alternatives
Demonstrate time management and organizational skills
Possess high ethical values and a strong sense of commitment to self-development, teamwork, and desire to work in a deadline-driven team environment
Perform field activities such as observation of construction activities, as required
Review construction submittals for conformance to contract and design documents
Perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of engineering principles
Work with Excel, AutoCAD, Microstation, and other modeling tools to perform site civil calculations and designs
BS in Civil Engineering from a four-year degreed ABET accredited civil engineering program
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the civil engineering field
Engineer in Training or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment
Experience in the use of CADD tools, such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD, Inroads, OpenRoads or Civil 3D
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Site Civil Design experience, such as performing stormwater design calculations, roadway and pavement design, grading and drainage design, erosion and sedimentation control design, and stormwater pollution prevention plan development and calculations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master degree in Civil Engineering
Experience supporting site civil design projects
Advanced user of Bentley OpenRoads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D
