Mid-Level Distribution Engineer
Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a Mid-Level Distribution Engineer to join the Distribution Services Department in Ft Worth, TX. The qualified candidate should have previous exposure to electrical utility standards. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The ability to use common industry design software packages
Create designs for both overhead and underground distribution systems (4 kV to 35 kV)
Perform calculations, interpret codes and standards, create construction packages and perform quality control reviews
The candidate must be capable of working both independently and within a team framework, and will be expected to deal directly with clients
The ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
Some travel should be expected
Required Education/Experience
A BSEE, BSEET, BSME or BSCE degree, from an ABET accredited university, preferably with a power option
Five (5) + years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV)
The qualified candidate should be experienced with utility standards, joint facilities design, compatible units, and construction package development
Prior electrical utility experience
Familiarity with distribution design software, both overhead and underground, the National Electric Safety Code and electrical utility best practices
Must possess strong command of the English language and must possess good written and oral communications skills
Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Desired Education/Experience
Professional Engineer (PE) Certification, or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire date
Exposure to utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS) such as GE Smallworld, ArcFM, DDS, DM, etc.
AutoCAD and MicroStation experience
