Overview

We are looking for an Aide Continuous Care (CNA) to join our hospice team to provide continuous, bed-side care in situations where our hospice patients need that type of support.

This is a day schedule - 4 days per week, 11 hours total (10 working hours + 1 hour lunch).

This position will directly report to the Executive Director and is responsible for providing personal care and services to the terminally ill to augment the care given by family members in a patient’s residence or patient care facility during periods of crisis. The Aide functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or clinical supervisor.

  • Gives basic emotional and psychological support to the patient and other members of the household

  • Reports any change in the patient’s mental or physical condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and members of the interdisciplinary team

  • Completes documentation in a timely manner as outlined in orientation

  • Completes a minimum of 12 hours of in-services per year

About You

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

  • Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA) license

  • The hospice agency must ensure the Hospice Aide has successfully completed 75 hours of training and a competency evaluation prior to hire. The hospice agency must ensure the training meets the requisite requirements.

  • Six months direct patient care experience in an institutional setting, prefer one year.

  • Additional preferred experience includes hospice, home health, oncology, or geriatric experience.
