*Job Title: Maintenance Machinist *

Location: Fort Riley, KS

The Maintenance Machinist produces replacement parts and new parts in making repairs of metal parts of mechanical equipment. The Maintenance Machinist\'s work involves most of the following: interpreting written instructions and specifications, planning and laying out of work, using a variety of machinist\'s hand tools and precision measuring instruments, and setting up and operating standard machine tools. The incumbent is responsible for the shaping of metal parts to close tolerances, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining; knowledge of the working properties of the common metals, selecting standard materials, parts, and equipment required for this work; and fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment. In general, the Machinist\'s work normally requires a rounded training in machine-shop practice, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

General Requirements:

  • Must have formal documented training and a minimum of five years of documented Machinist, Maintenance experience.
  • Must be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in cramped areas for prolonged periods time.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, heavy rain, and snow or sleet.
  • Must have a valid state driver\'s license
  • Must be able to attain licenses on military vehicle, tactical and Non-tactical.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Safety and OSHA Law & Regulations.
