Basic Job Functions:

  • Leadership role in promoting Nucors mission ensuring that safety is instilled as a value with a strong focus on quality and environmental stewardship. Member of the NS leadership team responsible for successfully leading long term profitable contributions to Nucor

  • Responsible for the divisions environmental strategy with a focus on building relationships with operations/ maintenance/ administrative departments and continuous cost reduction. S upport Nucors strategy in growing enterprise sustainability initiatives

  • Solid understanding of environmental compliance, permitting and serve as a liaison for State and Federal environmental agencies

  • Identify and monitor environmental regulatory changes in that could affect the companys operations and implement appropriate engagement and/or mitigation strategies

  • Oversees periodic review and revision of environmental management systems, standards, and procedures

  • Operational oversight of pollution control equipment (i.e. scrubbers, baghouses, etc.), wastewater treatment plants, and water systems

  • Advises leadership team on Environmental objectives, targets, and metrics

    Support Political and Community Outreach [[cust_safetyState]]

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position is a developmental position for future Environmental Managers. This individual must be pursuing a career path toward environmental management and be willing to relocate for future advancement positions within Nucor.

  • 3 years of environmental compliance experience

  • 3 years of environmental leadership experience including experience managing teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous steelmaking or heavy industry environmental compliance experience including permitting.

  • ISO 14001 or environmental management system experience

  • 4-year degree in engineering or related environmental, safety or health field.

  • Registered environmental credentials and/or professional engineering license.
