Job Description – Executive Director, Data Science:

NCR Atleos is a global growth company expanding ATM management and cash access for all. The Data Science Team at NCR Atleos is looking for talent to build a world class analytics & Data Science organization. We need business analysts with strategic, analytical & modeling skills to solve complex company challenges and improve the way we operate, each day every day.

  • The Executive Director of Data Sciences will be a key strategic leader within the organization directly driving value added business efforts while also influencing key business and technology partners to drive a culture of data based decision making.

  • Team management responsibilities will start with 1 or 2 direct reports likely steadily expanding to a larger number of employees and contractors; while also being responsible with a dotted line capacity for giving direction to tech teams on building out data capabilities.

  • The Director will face off against multiple executives to drive analytics for Operations, Tech, Sales & Product areas in addition to managing by self and with team Business critical activities for various departments on a day to day basis from an data/analytics perspective

  • The Director will be responsible to drive the demand/capacity conversations for the team. He/she will act as an evangelist and influencer to drive a culture of data within the organization.

To be successful in this position, a candidate’s specific skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues from Sales, Operations, Product, Finance and others to understand their domain, processes and come with solutions for their problems and tools to make their day to day operations efficient and effective

  • Strategic and Analytical Orientation: Experienced in decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking for framework creation combined with strong quantitative orientation to solve complex problems with rigorous analytics and monitoring

  • Execution Focus: Build and manage execution plans of business intent, requirements, execute against the strategy and monitor results

  • Results Focus: Focused on achieving short- and long-term goals. Able to drive and execute an agenda in uncertain, fluid environment with minimal supervision

  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: Tenacious decision maker able to bring healthy, aggressive yet responsible approach to business

  • The areas of focus include, but are not limited to:

  • Operations Management and Continuous Improvement:

  • Optimizing Cash Management:

  • Build Forecasting models for cash management of ATMs at machine level to help cash fill operations project cash needs and make appropriate arrangements

  • Continuously improve and fine-tune the models based on latest research on modelling techniques, macro-economic factors, historical data trends

  • Automate the execution and usage of such models for the end customers by developing appropriate usage tools

  • Build a robust monitoring mechanism for model performance that feeds back into the decision making & measure metrics to get a strong understanding of state of cash

  • ATM Profiling/ATM Profitability:

  • Understanding key factors contributing to profitability and building strategies to improve profitability of the network

  • Ongoing profiling of the ATM estate by profiling top & bottom performing ATM’s and articulating the right metrics for product & operations to action on

  • State of the Estate Analysis:

  • Build & drive analytics based on ATM physical attributes, software/hardware configurations and positioning/visuals within store

  • Correlate such State of the Estate analysis to ATM performance

  • Build reporting and metrics to get a strong understanding of state of estate

  • Identify key reasons for ATMs being out of service and recommend solutions to minimize downtime

  • Product Analytics and Performance Management

  • Lead analytics to provide data based grounding & objectivity to enable rollout of new ground breaking Products

  • Perform post rollout monitoring of products providing grounded metrics on how to measure product lift implementing scientific techniques such as test vs. control, p, n values and other statistical techniques

  • Leverage Geospatial tools such as ESRI to map the estate, drive branch proximity and density analysis to enable the product teams to pursue new markets & partnerships expansion opportunities

  • Deep dives to help device broad business strategy

  • Sales Performance Management and Support

  • Individual Retailer deep dives

  • Perform deep dive analytics into individual retailers to enable Sales teams with the required ammunition to close deals and secure gratifying contracts

  • Test/control analysis

  • Marketing segmentations on activities such as signage or other forms of testing for individual retailers; assign test/controls and measure lift to enable rollout decision

  • Contract Renewal Support:

  • reporting on client usage and performance prior to contract renewals to suggest best products for various client scenarios

  • Sales Scorecards:

  • Monthly reporting on sales performance (operations and profitability) to identify opportunities for improvement and root causes of issues

  • Business Critical Internal & External Monitoring & Analytics

  • Understanding State of Business for different Functions:

  • Ability to understand and grasp processes and identify metrics that matter / key metrics to be monitored on ongoing basis

  • External Reporting and Dashboards:

  • Drive the design and creation of reporting for board meeting, earnings call and analyst calls to highlight the NCR Atleos data brand and help differentiate the data culture

  • Building Reports and Dashboards:

  • Drive creation of reporting for critical internal activity such as MBR & QBR

  • Ability to translate learnings into data pulls and visualization which can be run in a self-serve / automation or ad hoc basis

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in quantitative field such as Operations research, Math, Statistics, Engineering

  • 12 + years of experience in a Data, business analytics role in modelling, product & marketing analytics

  • Deep understanding of operations research & statistics and proven experience in statistical modeling

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic business analytics: set up frameworks, structure the analysis to explore new market opportunities, revenues, cost reductions and estate optimizations

  • 7+ years of experience in working closely with business partners in influencing right product, marketing and operations choices for long term value add for the organization

  • 7+ years of experience in working with technology teams in driving data products & data warehousing architecture and infrastructure development

  • Intermediate to expert knowledge in Advanced SQL, Python, R to extract data from Big Data databases (Hadoop) & drive data infrastructure foundations build out

  • Advanced skills in MS Office

  • Pivot tables, vlookup and complex formulae in excel

  • Proficient in building slides to communicate with all levels in the organization

  • Experience using data visualization software such as Tableau, Zoom
