Job Summary and Qualifications

The Adjunctive Therapist provides the core of programming by facilitating therapeutic groups based in music, art, and or recreation offered to the patients . This helps them recover and maintain their overall well-being. This Role works as a mediator between clinical teams, patients, families, and next-level care providers to ensure seamless and comprehensive care.

What will you do in this Role:

  • Plan, direct, or coordinate medically-approved recreation programs in behavioral health environment. •

  • Observe, analyze, and record patients’ participation, reactions, and progress during treatment sessions, modifying treatment programs as needed •

  • Develop treatment plan to meet needs of patient based on needs assessment, patient interests and objectives of therapy. •

  • Encourage clients with special needs and circumstances to acquire new skills and get involved in health-promoting leisure activities such as games, arts and crafts and gardening •

  • Confer with members of treatment team to plan and evaluate therapy programs •

  • Obtain information from medical records, medical staff and the patient to assess patient’s capabilities, needs and interests. •

  • Plan organize direct and participate in treatment programs and activities to facilitate patient’s rehabilitation and integrate into the community •

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in his/her department. •

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. •

  • Demonstrate knowledge to assess, plan, and evaluate care in coordination with the health care team across the continuum •

  • Assesses and plans for the therapeutic leisure needs of the patient. •

  • Plan and facilitate holiday/seasonal activities for all patient milieu •Plan and facilitate fundraisers for holiday/seasonal programs

What qualifications you will need:

1.Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy, Music Therapy or Master’s Degree in Art Therapy are required

2.CTRS, ATR or BC, as specified by specific discipline professional certification guidelines or eligible to sit for Certification within 2 years.
