Your Key Responsibilities

  • This position is a both an internal and external client facing position with our Pacific Region management team (“Team”).

  • Within the Team, you will be delivering asset, organizational, financial, infrastructure, funding, economic, planning, policy, and advisory consulting services to project teams, local governments and third party agencies in California.

  • Work dynamically with project teams to identify best-fit solutions to complex business, strategic, funding, infrastructure, and operational issues, that involve elevated risk, with an emphasis on capital planning, delivery, and funding issues.

  • Work with the Team to develop strategies for Federal and State funding opportunities.

    • Lead engagements focused on the enhancement of community capital improvement plan execution/delivery and assist/support the Stantec teams in various elements of capital planning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
  • Serve as a primary member of multiple teams at client meetings, including interactive use of analytical tools and facilitating workshops, as well as direct and train junior staff in these areas.

  • Support Stantec teams with the execution of major projects serving as a technical advisor.

  • Lead the project team in client strategy meetings to identify and analyze issues affecting their organizations and key stakeholders and identify solutions.

  • Assist with growth and strengthening of client relationships and advice as necessary in business development efforts in responding to client requests and in positioning for future opportunities.

  • Represent Stantec as an industry thought leader at meetings with clients, and at other internal and external events.

  • Serve as an independent reviewer of analysis prepared by peers or junior staff to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of methods and tools being utilized as well as solutions being evaluated.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of and interest in local government organizational structure, budgeting / reporting, infrastructure planning, delivery, and funding, across the wide range of services they provide is required.

  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other business systems required.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-starter capable of efficiently and proactively working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong sense of Team.

  • Strong attention to details as deliverables that are open to public review and scrutiny.

  • Knowledge of and experience with various funding programs and capital planning and delivery in a municipal setting for a wide range of community services

  • Direct work experience/history with local government agencies

  • Knowledge of California transportation agencies and proven leadership role in at least one public agency

  • Elements of program and project management experience, including preparing and managing project scope, schedule, team activities, communication, and deliverables.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, planning, business, finance, economics, statistics, data science, accounting, or related fields are required.

  • 20 years total post-undergraduate working experience related to planning, economics, asset management, infrastructure funding/delivery, financial analysis and working for local government agencies in these areas.

  • Public sector experience is a plus.

Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $64 Per Hour - $96 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
