About you:

As thePolyethylene Catalyst Scale Up R&D Leader, you will own the technical team strategy in the polyolefin Catalyst Scale Up area while providing leadership to a small group of research employees. You will champion the Catalyst Scale up portfolio, supplier cost calculations, represent the team at Pilot Plant prioritization meetings, and identify new directions to accelerate strategic business objectives. The group provides Catalyst R&D Scale Up support to several PSP&H value centers which requires communication with key stakeholders inside and outside the Catalyst, Product, and Characterization organization.

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:

  • Lead activities for the R&D scale up and supplier cost analyses of organometallic or heterogeneous catalysts to support the solution PE, Elastomers, Dow Gas Phase, and Univation R&D value centers.

  • Learn, identify, and apply knowledge of key business drivers and the factors that maximize department performance to identify, champion, and charter projects in support of strategic objectives.

  • Manage day-to-day supervision of direct reports and be accountable for performance management, team building, reward and recognition, employee development and engagement.

  • Identify talent, be accountable for attraction and retention within the department, and create a high performing team focused on innovation and delivery against research goals.

  • Champion diversity and be a role model for inclusive behavior within the organization, business, and company.

  • Serves as the Facility Work Group Leader and Environmental, Health & Safety champion for the broader Catalyst work group, ensuring understanding and adherence to policies and procedures. Lead a broader team in the promotion of best laboratory safety practices, habits, and behaviors.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or science related field required; PhD is preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience is required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous project leadership experience (>5 years).

  • Track record of accomplishment in organic or organometallic synthesis or experience in a manufacturing plant, pilot plant, or research lab, in either a technical or leadership role.

  • Being proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel

  • Demonstrating competencies in the areas of leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness

  • Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards

  • Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
