L.L.Bean is currently searching for an Associate Technical Designer to join the Supply Chain Team located in Freeport, Maine.

Position Purpose: In this important role this person will work under minimal supervision and works with department leadership to set and align product lines to commercialized standards. Responsibilities include measuring samples, evaluating samples for quality construction and ensuring consistency within specification guidelines. Takes lead role in planning and preparing samples for fit sessions. Assists in fit sessions. Creates product specifications that are accurate and approved within corporate timeline. Responsible for producing first patterns from concepts provided by Design organization, which accurately reflect design intent and achieve correct silhouette and fitResponsibilities:

Conducts analysis of specifications to identify inconsistencies ensuring garments are manufactured according to the standards of quality, fit, and construction.

  • Creates initial and final specifications package.

  • Prepare and publish specifications and technical drawings in design/development system.

  • Maintains integrity of data within design/development system utilizing established processes.

  • Ensure corporate timelines are met.

  • Works in conjunction with leaders to develop technical standards for assigned apparel lines.

Request prototypes and fit samples based on design.

  • Evaluate and track samples through commercialization process.

  • Maintain tracking documents and analyze tracking documents.

Takes lead role in planning and preparing samples for fit sessions; participates in fit sessions.

  • Prioritize sessions based on corporate timelines.

  • Measure and evaluate samples for fit and construction.

  • Takes digital photos, downloads & formats into Excel spreadsheet.

  • Communicates pattern, construction, and fit changes and corrections as instructed.

Review catalog copy mechanicals to ensure sizing and description accuracy.

  • Make fit recommendations for catalog copy.

  • Knowledge of apparel or accessory garment construction, terminology and fit

  • Knowledge of pattern making/draping and grading

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent computer skills including CAD or PDM (Product Data Management)

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Solid technical drawing skills

  • Good understanding of the L.L.Bean customer

  • Good attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment

  • Ability to lift/carry 20lbs. on a regular basis
