As a Senior Business Development Manager for Commercial Out-licensing, you will identify, evaluate, and implement strategic out-licensing opportunities to drive revenue generation and business growth. Your primary focus will be on commercializing our company's intellectual property through strategic partnerships and licensing agreements with external organizations.

A day in the life

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to successfully commercialize intellectual property and grow licensing and product revenues.

  • Identify and evaluate out-licensing opportunities. Successfully negotiate licensing agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with business objectives and financial goals.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with potential partners, including pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and other relevant industry players.

  • Collaborate actively with business partners and cross-functional teams, including legal, commercial, finance, research and development, to ensure seamless execution of out-licensing initiatives.

  • Perform market research and analysis in alignment with Product Management to identify emerging market trends, competitive intelligence, regulatory requirements and potential areas of growth for our intellectual property portfolio.

  • Monitor and track performance metrics, evaluate the success of out-licensing initiatives, and provide regular reports to senior management.

  • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, customer meetings to establish and strengthen our presence within the commercial out-licensing space.

How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, life sciences, or a related field.

  • A Master's degree or MBA is a plus.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in business development, out-licensing, or strategic partnerships within the pharmaceutical, biotech industry or in university technology transfer offices

  • Strong understanding of the Advanced Therapies and Biotherapeutics development lifecycle and the commercialization process within the life sciences sector.

  • Experience in closing complex licensing agreements and partnerships.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Outstanding interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal leadership and external partners.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, excellent analytical, financial, and strategy development skills and use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $130,000.00–$180,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
