NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL LIFE INSURANCE Lead Software Engineer in FRANKLIN, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Lead Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, WI will define solution design using modern IT processes, standards, tools, and version control in a hybrid environment. Perform enterprise environment design and develop strategies and business plans for target state architecture. Create enterprise application architecture and design artifacts. Build and test automation tools to synthesize diagrams, models, and documentation. Perform virtualization and containerization and work with IaaS and perform cloud development using AWS with Terraform. Collaborate closely with engineering professionals to maintain hardware and software, providing project goals and overseeing timely execution. Implement Java-based software. Develop solutions using agile methods and design and develop scalable micro services using Java Spring Boot. Use technical platforms including Websphere Application Server, Websphere MQ, Docker, Autosys, Controlm, and Red Hat Linux. Perform cloud development with AWS cloud and its services, including EC2, Amazon VPC, Amazon Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, KMS, Data Event, API gateway, AppSync, Cloud Watch, Route53, IAM, and Event Bridge. Oversee infrastructure, including installing, configuring, integrating, testing, and maintaining operating systems, applications, and system management tools. Utilize diagnostic tools to determine deficiencies and maintain system security, including developing backup and redundancy strategies. Monitor and test performance of applications, foreseeing potential bottlenecks, and identifying possible solutions. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Requires a Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 5 years of experience as a software developer or a related occupation. Experience must include 5 years with each of the following: (1) Java-based software implementation; (2) developing solutions using agile methods and designing and developing scalable micro services using Java Spring Boot; (3) use of technical platforms including Websphere Application Server, Websphere MQ, Docker, Autosys, Controlm, and Red Hat Linux; (4) cloud development with AWS cloud and its services, including EC2, Amazon VPC, Amazon Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, KMS, Data Event, API gateway, AppSync, Cloud Watch, Route53, IAM, and Event Bridge; (5) design patterns including Singleton, Abstract Factory, Faade, proxy, and prototype; (6) application architecture, integration architecture, and CICD architecture; and (7) performing virtualization, containerization, and working with IaaS.
