Description:

This position is working within a pain management specialty clinic. The team is looking for new Medical Assistants to join their growing team! There is a patient volume of approximately 12-20 patients daily depending on walk ins and those scheduled. Patients will typically be 30+

The majority of time is spent assisting providers by rooming patient, obtaining blood pressure, documenting signs/symptoms, taking weight and temperature as well as completing medical history documentation.

This role will be broke down for the following:

  • Asssits with patient care- taking vitals, rooming patient, obtaining blood pressure, documenting signs/symptoms, taking weight and temperature as well as completing medical history documentation.

  • Phone triage ncluding: patient medical questions, test results, medication refills, and call-backs to patients, also includes faxes/calls/transmits prescription refills as directed.

  • Performing the check-in duties for patients which would include greeting patients, verifying patient information including demographics and insurance, and preparing charts for appointments.

  • Performs walk-in patient duties as needed, which may include: triage, injections, blood pressures, urinalyses, medication sample requests, collecting history and other information from the patients to be relayed to the provider.

  • Collecting co-payments and money due from patients for medical services verifying informaiton for payment and reports any discrepencies as well as initiating or performing the referral process.

  • Files charts daily/scanning in information.

  • Schedules appointments and documents no-show appointments

  • Answer phone calls and direct calls appropriately

  • Performs office charge entry, ensuring correct CPT and ICD-10 information and accurate entry into the billing system.

  • Setting up for procedures and assisting providers with procedures

Finally, the last two will take up 5% of time:

  • Performs additional duties not addressed here as assigned by the Practice Administrator, practice site provider and/or the VP of Physician Practices.

  • Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Hospital policies

Must Have Qualifications:

  • Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, NCMA or CCMA certification required.

  • Successful completion of AND graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course (or equivalent experience required).

  • An upbeat, positive, outgoing attitude and not afraid to "jump in" when needed to ensure consistent patient flow and positive interactions from patients

  • Strong patient first care and experience

Preferred Experience:

  • 2-3 years working as a CMA

  • POC testing

  • Experience with Cerner (or EMR systems in general)
