Position Overview:
As a Senior Health Care Consultant, the individual in this position will be working directly with our healthcare clients on a range of complex and rewarding assignments. You will use your skills in health care policy research, critical thinking, independent judgement, creativity, flexibility, communication, and problem-solving to gather information, analyze data, and develop recommendations to drive improvements and change based on client needs. In this position, the Senior Health Care Consultant will perform a variety of tasks related to health and human service programs and healthcare delivery system models implemented at the state and federal levels. They will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative healthcare initiatives through program planning, technical assistance, and data-driven decision-making. The Senior Health Care Consultant will also assist Project Directors, Leads and Managers and other team members with the development of client relationships and management of projects in areas such as change management, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and health policy analysis and design/development to support innovative initiatives associated with Medicaid, managed care delivery systems, community-based services, behavioral health, justice-involved services, health-related social needs, health equity, and public health.

Essential Functions:

  • Depending on the scope of the client project, the Senior Health Care Consultant will work the following areas:
  • Leading the planning, management, and coordination of project activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within the specified time-frame.
  • Independently conduct research on a variety of topics related to health policy, systems and practices, technology infrastructure, regulatory environment, behavioral health, community health, and population health.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and synthesize available research into clear and concise findings to inform policy- or strategy-related decision making. For example, the individual in this role will create state comparative policy documentation or topic-specific profiles/summaries, and producing written analyses, white papers, and reports that demonstrate a detailed and expert understanding of assigned topics.
  • Design and lead mixed methods research initiatives, such as community health needs assessments or health systems assessments that include the collection, review, and analysis of available research, client documentation, best practices, and qualitative and quantitative data from stakeholders.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions, stakeholder interviews, stakeholder focus groups, and strategic working sessions to bring participants to consensus on key topics and decisions.
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources - including client reports, literature reviews, quantitative surveys, and qualitative interviews and focus groups - to identify key themes, findings, and recommendations, and creating gap analysis and identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT).
  • Lead the writing of client reports, including working with our marketing team to create final work products for public consumption.
  • Partner with our clients through projects to develop trust, gather ongoing guidance on projects, preparing materials as requested, and assisting with ad hoc requests.
  • Support the team with project management, including leading client meetings, updating agendas and meeting minutes, and support updates to project plans.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced graduate degree (MHA, MPH, DHA, or Ph.D. required) with minimum of three years of work experience in healthcare-related consulting, at a health and human services federal or state agency, private sector industry or a combination.
  • Experience on projects and conducting research for State Medicaid Agencies and/or supporting the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services programs (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, etc.) strongly preferred. Knowledge of Medicaid and/or health care-related Federal authorities, regulations, and laws preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize resources effectively, establish timelines, monitor progress, and meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Advanced use of applicable software programs, including Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) required. Working knowledge of Qualtrics, MS Teams, and NVivo or other qualitative software preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to research, synthesize, and present information in a concise manner and communicate effectively to all levels of client personnel, including senior leaders.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to changing client needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of the organization, multi-task efficiently, manage multiple deadlines, and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability and desire to engage in ongoing learning to enhance subject matter expertise.
  • Certification in any of the following is a plus: Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumManager (SCM), Six Sigma, Change Management, User Experience, Strategic Planning, and/or Business Analysis.
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs (approximately 25%).

The Team:
Myers and Stauffer takes pride in the welcoming and collaborative culture we have throughout our offices. For this position, the employee will report to one of our Managers or Senior Managers on the Consulting engagement team.

Work Style:
Our general business hours are Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm. Dependent on performance, our in-office associates are eligible for a hybrid work schedule after their initial 90-day training period.
