As the Head of Process Excellence within our Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) group, you will develop and implement Sanofi’s strategic direction for HSE, assure that the business achieves compliance with all Legal and Sanofi requirements including Policies, Procedures, Standards and that performance goals for HSE are met. Additionally, you will assure continuous improvement to meet annual improvement targets and drive the development of HSE Culture within the organization.

Department Description:

The Health Safety and Environmental group (HSE) is responsible for implementing programs and policies that align with Sanofi standards, as well as local, state and federal HSE rules. The goal is to continually reduce the occurrence and severity of occupational injuries and illnesses. Additionally, the HSE department fosters a safe and environmentally friendly work environment by integrating effective HSE programs, policies and services.

Position Overview/Key Responsibilities:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of HSE excellence and project management strategies, and standards across the site organization in alignment with the company CBNs & roadmaps.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement for all HSE transversal processes with End-to-End approach and support KPIs tracking, trending, strategies updating. Ensure that all process improvements and changes follow HSE regulatory requirements & company priorities.

  • Develop and implement the strategy to assure continuous improvement of Sanofi’s HSE Management Systems . Develop process to maintain certification of the Company's HSE Management Systems (ISO 14001 & ISO 50001). Master level of proficiency in term of management system, regulatory knowledge, audits.

  • Develop and Lead on site the deployment of the One HSE Culture program. Perform HSE process analysis maturity and develop improvement plans.

  • Ensure end-to-end HSE processes are defined and designed​. Ensure HSE process owners are identified for each end-to-end local process. Support HSE site governance and escalation process.

  • Lead projects to streamline operations, reduce variability, and improve overall process performance. Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and objectives.

  • Lead local HSE management system and local HSE documentation in alignment with Global guidance.

  • Works closely with other departments such as R&D, SMS, Quality and Manufacturing to ensure process improvements are aligned with overall business goals.

Manage change HSE initiatives to ensure smooth implementation of new processes and technologies.

  • Drive culture management of HSE Excellence (Learning, programs in place) and promote a culture of continuous HSE improvement by encouraging employee participation in process improvement initiatives and recognizing their contributions.

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of HSE process improvements and ensure ongoing optimization. Analyze process data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Coordinate local HSE process owners network​. Participate to Community of Practice managed at global level.

  • Lead and manage the Process excellence team including hiring, training, coaching, capabilities developing and performance evaluation which drive an excellence operating mindset.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering with at least 15 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of management systems, along with an establish track record of success. 5+ years experience in management and HSE Preferred. Experience working with or in HSE in a manufacturing environment required.

  • Highly developed both interpersonal and communication skills at organizational, team and individual levels.

  • Effective facilitator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering.

  • Proven track record in Project Management; ability to manage projects to plan/budget.

  • Full understanding of all HSE regulations/requirements for a manufacturing operation and for capital project installations.

  • Professional certification as a CSP or CIH.

  • Experienced influencing and contracting skills.

  • Experienced in management of campus HSE program.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business.

  • Ability to gown to gain entry to manufacturing space.
