Leidos is seeking a Distribution Designer who is passionate about electric utility design engineering . We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality. You'll be working directly with clients to make sure that Leidos' reputation for high-quality work is always maintained.

This role is hybrid out of our Framingham, MA office (4 days in office, 1 day remote). And you should be available to travel regionally to provide support to our local utility clients as needed.

As a Distribution Designer You can expect to:

  • Assist in the development of design engineering packages for Leidos electric utility customers

  • Perform 3rd party make ready design and analysis; potentially work on capital/ reliability design (i.e. reconductor, voltage conversion, DG, FLISR, underground, etc. designs)

  • Perform distribution design by creating construction sketches and producing bill of material for 3rd party design

  • Review design packages with clients; Review and organize existing program work

  • Perform functional tasks, planning, and/or customer follow-up

  • Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities

  • Gain experience in coordinating conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications

  • Gain the ability to perform QAQC on 3rd party design

  • Be comfortable in both a field and office setting; the role may require some customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages

What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):

  • A minimum of 1 year of Relevant experience working with Third Party Make Ready Projects for electric utilities

  • Associate’s degree in technical field

  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with National Electric Safety Code (NESC)

  • Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, Pole Foreman)

  • Demonstrated Experience with development of civil & electrical packages associated with complex cable/conduit in dense urban environments

  • Ability to provide your own reliable transportation,as some customer-related travel is anticipated(Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates).

  • Proven experience and proficiency with DDS (Distribution Design Studio) is preferred; OR Experience with STORMS software is preferred

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
