Why We Want You!

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department. The ideal candidate will have experience as a surgical veterinary technician, has experience monitoring patients under general anesthesia in a fast-paced environment and a passion for providing high-quality care to animals and our clients. Though experience is highly preferred, willing to train the right candidate. As an integral part of our team, you will work closely with Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Assistants, and other staff members.

Compensation :

Credentialed Veterinary Technicians:

2-3 years of experience $26.50 - $29.50

3 + years of experience $29.50 - $35.00

Veterinary Assistant $20.00 - $25.00

Compensation is all dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule and additional responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with physical examinations with the veterinarian and doctor’s assistant

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to compassionately interact and educate clients.

  • Managing medical records, reports and correspondence

  • Prepare surgical suites and equipment for procedures

  • Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, including patient monitoring, anesthesia administration, and surgical instrument preparation

  • Monitoring general anesthesia plays an important role in this position. This includes heart rate, end-tidal carbon dioxide, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and temperature.

  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status, taking appropriate action to ensure patient safety.

  • Accurately document anesthesia protocols, patient information, and vital signs.

  • Maintain detailed records of medications administered and any complications or issues encountered during procedures.

  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation of anesthesia during surgical procedures

  • Flexibility in scheduling and multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure a safe and sterile surgical environment

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with doctors and team members to coordinate and optimize patient care.

  • Communicate effectively with the team regarding anesthesia concerns and patient status.

  • Obtain patient vitals

  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records

  • Assisting our Doctor and Technical staff as needed with patient care

  • Maintain a clean work environment to maintain any infectious disease protocols, handle medical/biomedical and infectious waste appropriately

  • Maintain inventory and supplies for procedures and patient husbandry.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license or minimum of 2 years of technical related duties.

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and common conditions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners.

  • Knowledge and experience with handling and administering different drugs and following safety protocols.
