Job Description

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. As a Director, Global HIV Franchise Marketing, you will be a member of the Global Commercial Product Strategy Virology and EP Strategy and Operations Team reporting to the Executive Director, Global Commercial Product Strategy, Virology and EP Strategy and Operations Team. The role will be located in Foster City and will be responsible for developing and implementing the annual Global HIV Franchise Marketing POA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying, analyzing and translating brand, customer, market insights to frame and solve key business problems and build effective marketing tactics aligned to the HIV Franchise Strategy

  • Contributing to the HIV Franchise strategic plans together with global strategic marketing, medical affairs, government affairs, public affairs and other cross-functional colleagues

  • Identifying and acting upon insights based on market research, competitive intelligence and campaign insights in executing the plan of action; supporting implementation of the plans in local markets

  • Developing and implementing innovative and impactful commercial initiatives and tactics aligned with the brand global strategic imperatives

  • May attend major conferences and helps coordinate global commercial activities and implementing the cross-functional plan of action at tier one HIV conferences

  • Closely work with the HIV Treatment and HIV Prevention, in order to identify synergies across campaigns and key events such as congresses, to share best practices and learnings

  • Engaging and collaborating with Local Markets, Global Strategic Marketing, Medical Affairs, Value and Access, Analytics and Insights, Competitive Intelligence, Commercial Operations, Pipeline Marketing, Clinical Development, Governmental Affairs and Public Affairs to develop and drive the implementation of the plan to support global HIV Franchise marketing strategy

  • Continually evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of commercial initiatives and tactics and refining plans where necessary as well as sharing best practices across markets, departments and other brand teams

  • Effectively leading projects to deliver high quality work in a timely fashion within allotted budget to meet deadlines and commitments and ensuring regulatory and compliance guidelines are followed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience or

  • Master's Degree and 10 years of experience or

  • PhD and 8 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of relevant commercial experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry

  • HIV-specific experience and market knowledge (preferred)

  • Strategic and operational experience from country level commercial leadership roles

  • Prior regional or global experience (preferred)

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence and work successfully across a variety of organizational levels and disciplines

  • Demonstrated teamwork and excellence in project management working collaboratively with key stakeholders while effectively managing multiple priorities and projects

  • Outstanding ability to influence and lead cross-functionally to drive the business

  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify trends and provide appropriate recommendations

  • Demonstrated skills in global pharmaceutical planning including the ability to develop and implement launch plans, campaign development, omnichannel planning and budget management

  • Proven ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced environment with high expectations and a customer focus which drives the need for quality deliverables and performance

  • Competitive mindset, and demonstrated ability to prioritize, focus and create an impact in market and for patients

The salary range for this position is: $205,700.00 - $266,200.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
