Overview

Responsible for onsite support responsibilities for warehouse system and equipment to ensure all warehouse systems & equipment function as intended to support ongoing business operations. This role acts as the initial point of contact and troubleshooter for Tier 1 warehouse technical support, 2nd level contact for Tier 2 warehouses, and will triage to 3rd level vendor or ETP support as needed. The individual is responsible for supervising other support personnel in Warehouse Support Technician roles and in maintaining warehouse equipment along with spare inventory. In addition, this role supports MHE asset inventory management at the local level. This individual is also responsible for developing advanced processes for preventive maintenance and assist in evaluating other distribution systems. This person is expected to be aware of industry trends and latest technology to help in improving business processes along with coaching other technicians and operations partners on new/ existing procedures. Other duties will include the first line of defense for all and any abnormal WMI system issues.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain “lights on” operation for all responsible facilities including label printer and RF gun fleet, CMMS operations, production workstations and voice picking units

  • Create standard operating procedures for evaluating and improving facility operation

  • Liaisons with Site leadership / management and other project resources to ensure successful completion of project according to guidelines

  • Communicate with other related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed

  • Identify Operational opportunities to improve organizational efficiencies and provide/ recommend innovative solutions to help achieve the business goals

  • Provide training for employees on procedures/systems

  • Manage and Assist with the maintaining of the Material Handling systems (conveyor, SRM’s in motion scanners, VFD’s, Servo Motors and controls, etc.)

  • Develop advanced processes (including predictive maintenance techniques) to measure, analyze and improve equipment performance (reliability) and prioritization of improvement projects

Additional Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordination with relevant Warehouse Equipment vendors for issue resolution and service performance at respective DCs

  • Perform proactive maintenance for warehouse equipment

  • Document and escalate issues to the appropriate vendors and SGWS SCM support groups

  • Manage and maintains the spare parts inventory and report as required to keep the systems ready for production

  • Collaborate and coach maintenance/ operations partners to upgrade preventative maintenance (PM) processes and process control systems to improve performance (reliability)

  • Oversees the development functional requirements for future warehouse equipment needs.

  • Implement operations continuous improvement measures and initiatives

  • Be able to trouble shoot all first support calls on WM issues including any label or voice process issues

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (Industrial, Mechanical, business administration, computer science, information systems, or other industry related curriculum) or Sufficient and relevant work experience

  • 7 or more years of work experience

  • 4 or more years of work experience in Warehouse Operations & Support

  • Working knowledge of PLC operations and PLC electrical panels

  • Working knowledge of Compressed Air system and Storage and Retrieval Machines (SRM’s)

  • Working knowledge of spirals and sliding shoe sorters, Motor starters, overloads and basic wiring

  • Knowledge of wholesale distribution strongly preferred

  • MS Office and other general desktop software experience required

  • Must have some experience with conveyor systems, pick to belt operations and other MHE systems including software such as Warehouse control systems, Warehouse Management systems, and not limited to lift systems management systems and maintenance tracking software

  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine

  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping

  • Critical nature of this job may require extended hours, overtime, and weekends

  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
