Who You Are

Procurement Engineer, Staff

A Procurement Engineer is a member of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team that LM Aeronautics uses to minimize disruptions to the supply chain by providing “in the field” oversight of supplier execution. The selected candidate will be required to visit assigned suppliers daily.

Your Role

Coordinates with Sourcing, Operations, Design Engineering, the Supply Base and Industry experts to facilitate the design, production, test and qualification of aerospace and defense products.

Analyzes technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and parts/equipment availability. Investigates and recommends potential suppliers based on assessments of response to specifications, costs, inspection of facilities, and historical performance.

Facilitate technical trade-offs and standardization that may lead to more economical procurement. Recommends design changes to mitigate production issues.

Leads teams of Supplier and internal staff in collaboratively solving problems in Producibility, Quality, Inspection, Cost, Mistake-Proofing, Test, Reliability and Affordability.

Candidates should have an understanding of production processes as they relate to aircraft systems components and avionics equipment, machined part fabrication, tooling fabrication, and lean manufacturing. The candidate should be a self-starter that is capable of analyzing supplier processes and developing improvement plans in collaboration with personnel from both the supplier and LM. The candidate will regularly collaborate across multiple functions (within LM and at the supplier facility), including production, procurement, quality, and engineering, in order to expedite parts/assemblies that are required to support each of the LM Aeronautics Lines of Business (LOB).

Experience identifying and addressing interdependencies and real challenges within any given organization; while utilizing a strategic approach.

This position is located at a facility may require special access; will require US Citizenship; the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance after hire will be necessary.

Daily travel to Supplier location will be required

Basic Qualifications:

Project or Program Management experience

Aerospace and Defense industry engineering or operations experience

Supply Chain Management

Desired Skills:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree

Experience in managing to deliverables and milestones

Experience in creating a collaborative environment with customers and suppliers

Contracts or Subcontracts experience

Cross-Functional or matrix organization structure team experience

Experience with ERP & MRP systems

Risk management experience

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
