EAGLE MOUNTAIN - SAGINAW ISD Special Education Teacher in Fort Worth, Texas

Primary Purpose:

Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify instruction and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to meet the individual needs of student. Provide instructional support in a variety of settings as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelors degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of special needs of assigned students

Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Strong organizational skills, communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Ability to be patient, flexible and versatile.

Basic technology competencies

Experience:

At least one year student teaching or approved internship

Instructional Strategies

1.

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of each student assigned.

2.

Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show how written evidence of preparation required.

3.

Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning needs of assigned students.

4.

Present subject matter according to guidelines established by IEP.

5.

Utilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
