KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations, including lumber supply, production, and deliveries. The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of the facility, leading the entire operational team on-site, ensuring an efficient and effective operation in delivering quality products to our customers and maintaining security and operability of all assets at the site.
Requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Production Oversight
Manage all aspects of facility operations, including production, shipping/receiving, maintenance, and inventory control.
Monitor and optimize throughput, cost control, waste reduction, and maintenance efficiency.
Maintain ERP system integrity and ensure company assets are managed effectively.
Ensure equipment and facilities are in good working condition by managing local suppliers and maintenance services.
Safety & Compliance
Lead a safety-driven culture at all operational levels, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Promote adherence to best practices, effective housekeeping, and continuous safety improvements.
Act as the company’s representative for local regulatory and compliance matters.
Financial & Strategic Management
Oversee facility profit and loss, managing budgets and ensuring financial controls are met.
Implement strategic planning, including business, marketing, and capital planning processes.
Develop and execute pricing strategies aligned with market conditions and company goals.
Sales & Customer Relations
Support local sales efforts and collaborate with the sales team to set and achieve facility sales targets.
Identify and target key market segments to drive business growth.
Respond to customer inquiries, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction.
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise staffing, training, and professional development initiatives.
Foster a high-performance culture centered on respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Provide hands-on leadership, setting a positive example within the operation.
Continuous Improvement & Performance Metrics
Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and quality.
Develop and track key performance metrics, including inventory levels, production schedules, and order fulfillment.
Create and manage daily production schedules to meet company expectations.
Establish training materials and ensure all employees are properly trained in equipment operation and safety protocols.
Additional Responsibilities
Contribute to business growth strategies and process improvements.
Assist in hiring employees and conduct annual performance evaluations.
Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical or business-related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in production or manufacturing environment.
Background in lumber remanufacturing, wood working and or similar field preferred.
Working knowledge of lean six sigma methodologies and experience in leading change.
Analytical thinker with a strong basis on data gathering and analysis.
Energetic, organized and ability to manage a wide range of projects and priorities.
Excellent communicator and understanding of importance to ‘do what you say’.
Familiarity of ERP systems and methods of scheduling, inventory and shipping.
Strong computer skills with experience in the Microsoft Office suite.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & ATTRIBUTES
Lumber remanufacturing facility with cutting and assembly equipment.
Indoor office area with outdoor production and lumber yard management.
Hearing protection, eyewear and steel-toed shoes required.
Initial travel expected, including participation in training and possible customer visits.
