We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless, and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.

This position is onsite in Bell's Fort Worth, Texas, Amarillo Texas, or Wichita, Kansas offices.

MRB Engineers, FLRAA Program

Bell is seeking a self-motivated Liaison Engineers to join Bell’s FLRAA Program team in Fort Worth and Amarillo, Texas to work closely with all engineering support and design groups, including airframe design, stress, material & processes, fatigue, rotors, and drive systems to support the evaluation and disposition of non-conforming product per Material Review Board (MRB) policies and procedures.

In addition, this engineer will work closely with production area supervisors and managers.This role will assure compliance with Design requirements, including customer specifications, military and industry standards and Bell policies and procedures.

Participate on Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) teams in the factory and with suppliers as required to reduce recurring defects.

What you’ll be doing as a Liaison Engineer:

  • Candidate will develop timely and cost-effective engineering dispositions for nonconforming components and assemblies that do not meet design requirements through Bell’s approved MRB process.

  • Responsibility includes non-conformances encountered during production, fabrication, installation, and assembly.

  • Provide Engineering cross-function support, design interpretation to manufacturing/production teams and supporting program improvement initiatives.

  • As a member of the MRB, signoff as the engineering authority on dispositions, including Repair (RPR) and Use As Is (UAI) for all nonconformance activity.

  • Support the development, maintenance and compliance with Bell Policies & Procedures related to MRB activity.

  • Support Root Cause/Corrective Action activity, including the investigation of defective, damaged, non-conforming or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, systems or equipment to determine cause of the problem and prevention from recurrence.

Qualifications

Skills You Bring To this Role :

  • Must be a proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with excellent foresight and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to become a Bell MRB member and be certified to disposition non-conforming parts (composite, metallic, bonded panels, welded, castings, forgings and other supporting components) including the design of repairs based on ensuring fit/form/function at the next higher assembly and overall structural integrity.

  • Demonstrated ability to become a member of the Planning Review Board and be responsible for reviewing and approving fabrication planning as well as providing dispositions for items that are designated as Controlled Items (Fatigue, Primary, Critical, Flight Safety Parts, and Critical Safety Items).

  • Ability to work with various Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality and Design personnel, and support a diverse manufacturing/assembly and/or Flight test environment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate between other Engineering disciplines, Quality, Materials, Manufacturing and Suppliers relative to repairs schemes and engineering-related production problems.

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a Major in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in aircraft production support or airframe design. Prior MRB experience / certification preferred.
