Fort Worth, TX company is seeking a Database Administrator to join their team for a contract opportunity.
Leverage the latest technology to solve business problems in a collaborative environment at this Fortune 500 transportation giant. Top technical resources are retained on long-term contract engagements.
Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase better.

What You Will Be Doing
Lead and execute the cloud migration projects from On-prem SQL Server to Azure SQL, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.
Implement best practices for database security and compliance with data privacy regulations, incorporating access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.
Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, working closely with development teams to optimize query performance, indexing strategies, and resource utilization.
Implement and maintain robust monitoring solutions to provide real-time insights into database health, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
Conduct regular health checks, capacity planning, and upgrade/migration activities to maintain system reliability and stability.
Perform essential database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.
Innovate and implement automation solutions for routine tasks, reducing manual efforts and improving operational efficiency.
Implement and manage database replication, CDC, Always On, WFC, and high-availability solutions for continuous operation and disaster recovery.
Design, implement, and maintain SQL and Azure database solutions aligned with organizational requirements and industry best practices.
Design, develop, and enhance ETL processes using Azure Data Factory or other tools to seamlessly integrate data from diverse sources into the database.
Collaborate with teams to optimize and streamline data transformation pipelines.
Collaborate with the teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues efficiently using Azure Insights, Monitoring, DMVs, Query Store, etc.
Demonstrate expert knowledge of SQL, Transact-SQL, DMVs, Stored Procedures, user-defined functions, and Custom Types.
Provide expert counsel on database design principles, ensuring the development of scalable, high-performance solutions that align with industry best practices. Offer strategic insights to optimize database structures, enhancing efficiency, and fostering adherence to established best practices.
Leverage TSQL, and PowerShell scripting to automate routine tasks, enabling proactive monitoring, maintenance, and issue resolution.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation, driving initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of database administration tasks.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, actively participating in solution design sessions and contributing insights to ensure robust database solutions.
Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for database management in alignment with industry trends.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, standards, and procedures to foster knowledge-sharing.
