BAE Systems is seeking a Business Area Operations Director (BAOD) for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business. This position is based in Fort Wayne, IN and leads the Operations function over six locations. Being a trusted provider of aerospace solutions, the CAS business develops, produces, and services advanced and highly reliable electronic controls for the leading manufacturers of commercial and military aircraft including their flight and propulsion systems.
The CAS Operations team consists of over 1,000 employees spanning multiple product lines, facilities, geographies, technologies, and cost account segments. This role is the business-facing leader of the Operations organization and a key strategic contributor to the business area, including the long-term planning process. This role will also be responsible for delivering world-class manufacturing with exceptional product quality at target cost for their production facilities.
This role will report directly to the Vice President, Operations of Electronic Systems. The required location for this role is Fort Wayne, IN. Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Typically a Bachelor s degree in a technical or business-related discipline and a minimum of 15 years of experience with electronic systems manufacturing processes and systems.
Minimum LSS Green Belt.
Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. BAE Systems, Inc. will not offer sponsorship for this position.
This role requires the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience leading a complex electronics manufacturing business with revenues of at least $500M across multiple sites and multiple account segments.
Expertise utilizing lean principles and a track record of success in developing significant improvements in cost management, inventory management, quality, and delivery.
Experience establishing a vision, gaining cross-organizational support for that vision, and implementing that vision and facilitating change in a logical, methodical manner.
Ability to marshal resources to get things done, orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal, and use resources effectively and efficiently. Proven skills partnering across the business and the ability to collaborate within and across organizational boundaries.
Experience with large scale MES or other enterprise software for enhancing global process.
Executive level communication skills with experience presenting complex information to senior leaders.
Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to negotiate win-win solutions at a high level with internal and external customers and partners in a timely and decisive manner.
Exhibits a high degree of technical credibility and communicates highly technical information in a simplistic and easily understandable way. Analytical skills to draw appropriate conclusions from data, anticipating second and third order effects when making recommendations.
Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to achieve results through others and a focus on holistic leadership.
Previous experience working for a government defense contractor.
MBA or MS degree.
Black Belt certification from ASQ.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $194600 - $330800

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
