Summary The Hematologist/Oncologist (Physician) is responsible for managing of hematology/oncology procedures evaluate, diagnose, consult, and order appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments for Oncology patients. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive approved This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Responsibilities Duties: The incumbent will provide consultative evaluations and treatments to patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA outpatient clinics and perform administrative functions and other tasks as assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff of Acute Medical Service. The practitioner provides consultative series on patients referred from other sections of the hospital and affiliated outpatient clinics as well as providing emergency hematology/oncology services as assigned or designated. The incumbent is responsible for consultation and administrative duties at which may be assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff of Acute Medicine to meet the need of the medical center. Medical assessment and consultation: The Hematology/Oncology (Physician) is responsible for a wide range of duties to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality care. This includes, but is not limited to initial evaluation, documentation, diagnosis, evaluation, ordering appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments to patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA outpatient clinics, and perform administrative functions and other tasks as assigned. Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA), in the list published for the year the residency was completed, OR Other residencies or their equivalents which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. English Language Proficiency. Physicians appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
