The Payroll Supervisor supervises payroll representatives, ensuring that all processes are properly executed in a timely manner. They operate as the subject matter expert in payroll and Human Resources Information System and serve as the escalation point to resolve issues while continuously looking for improvements in operational processes and designs. This individual manages effective internal/external client relationships within own area of responsibility and builds client relationships in the wider group or unit.

Education and Experience Requirements * Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities. * Minimum 5 years payroll experience. * Experience with HRIS/Payroll software

Job Responsibilities * Interpret day-to-day business objectives and execute payroll practices and policies accordingly. * Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage, hour, and payroll related laws. Stay informed with the changes and updates to the laws. * Supervise Payroll staff and prepare work schedules to ensure execution of payroll activities. * Assist in monitoring workload and evaluate direct reports. * Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs. * Schedule and hold periodic refresher course on the timesheet review and approval process. Also, timely educate new managers. * Prepare necessary payroll related reports and documentation for insurance, benefit, and financial audits. * Monitor and analyze expenditures and reserves for employee benefit plans. * Serve as Plan Administrator for the employee Retirement Plan. * Monitor timely filing and reporting of payroll withholdings and taxes. * Preparation of other required reporting to governmental agencies and employees. * Assist Benefits with open enrollment. * Escalate potential service issues to leadership. * Key stakeholder for payroll sections of financial statements. Reviews and ensures accuracy during month end and year end close processes. * Educate team members on new or enhanced operation procedures and policies. * Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes. * Cover for team members in back-up role for absences and/or high-volume work efforts. * Implement and maintain departmental metrics

Skills Needed * Ability to effectively supervise team members, work as a member of that team, and organize work activities for other members of that team. * Strong, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues. * Must possess excellent organizational skills and be able to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization. * Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements * Fast-paced office environment. * Typical work hours consist of 45+ hours per week. * Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods of time. * Visual acuity.
