This position will | | | work closely with a diverse | | | office group of professional | | | engineers (P.E.s) and engineering | | | interns (E.I.s). The intern will | | | work both in the office and the | | | field. There will be education of | | | Fort Waynes Utility system | | | including storm and sanitary | | | collection, water distribution, | | | sustainable infrastructure, | | | treatment facilities, dams, and | | | reservoirs. This position is | | | excluded from paragraphs 3 and 4 | | | of City Attendance Policy 305; | | | all other paragraphs of this | | | policy apply. The incumbent is | | | expected to exercise good | | | judgment, independence, | | | initiative, and professional | | | expertise in conducting | | | day-to-day operations. All work | | | duties and activities must be | | | performed in accordance with the | | | City and Utility's safety rules | | | and operating regulations, | | | policies and procedures as well | | | as federal, state, and local | | | regulations. | | | | | | ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND | | | RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the | | | ability to interact with the | | | public, City incumbents, and | | | outside agencies with patience, | | | tact, respect, and | | | professionalism and the | | | following. Other duties may be | | | assigned. | | | | | | - Field reconnaissance for | | | purposes of gathering data on | | | existing equipment | | | - Verifying plans and | | | specifications against field | | | conditions. | | | - Preliminary report | | | preparation including taking | | | an infrastructure | | | (mechanical, process, and or | | | civil) issue at the plant, | | | and researching options, | | | conducting meetings, and | | | presenting recommendations | | | for a project. | | | - Ability to shift focus | | | between multiple projects or | | | tasks as priorities are | | | identified, or while waiting | | | for actions from others. | | | - Surveying assistance for | | | field verification of | | | engineering projects. | | | - Data collection used for | | | planning activities or | | | design. | | | - Assist Engineer in field | | | verifications and data | | | collection used for planning | | | activities or design. | | | - Assistance to design | | | engineers for planning, | | | design and specification | | | writing. | | | - Perform Asset data collection | | | and tracking | | | - General research, data | | | tracking systems, filing | | | systems and other | | | miscellaneous assignments as | | | needed. | | | | | | PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
