A DAY IN THE LIFE AS AN E-COMMERCE ASSISTANT MANAGER
As an E-Commerce Assistant Manager, you play a vital role in supporting Goodwills mission. After all, the revenue generated through our online sales help support job training and placement programs that Goodwill provides. It is your job to work with the E-Commerce Manager to ensure the success of our E-Commerce department!
There is no such thing as a typical day. You could be researching items for sale, assist with training new employees, motivating employees to make their goals, communicate with our customers via phone or e-mail, etc. Other things you could expect:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist the E-Commerce manager with ensuring that departmental goals are achieved.
- Assists with training new employees.
- Ensures staff is working efficiently.
- Perform bag checks and temperature checks for all employee.
- Orders and maintains adequate supplies.
- Maintains clean and organized listing areas, cubicles and shipping rooms.
- Identifies sellable items for listings
- Monitors listings for accuracy and add EBay specifics as needed.
- Monitors listing numbers daily and coaches those not meeting their goals
- Monitors sales trends on EBay and ShopGoodwill to ensure listings are placed on the appropriate site to optimize sales.
- Address customer concerns via email and phone to resolve issues and concerns.
- Send Invoices to EBay customers, as needed.
- Addresses indiscretions immediately and documents and reports incidents for possible disciplinary action to the E-Commerce Manager.
- Works with the E-Commerce Manager to ensure department goals are met.
- Helps to plan monthly department meetings with E-Commerce manager and attends monthly d partment meetings and runs meetings in the absence of the manager
- Supports and executes all Goodwill policies and procedures.
- Follows all safety rules and practices.
- Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the E-Commerce Manager or Retail Director in the process of carrying out the mission of Goodwill Industries.
- Heavy lifting, pushing and pulling required.
- Supervises day-to-day operations in the absence of the E-Commerce manager.
- In order to promote customer and donor satisfaction it is mandatory for employees who come in contact with the public to maintain a positive work outlook and to project a pleasant, courteous, and helpful demeanor at all times when dealing with customers, donors, co-workers, and clients.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Photographs and writes item descriptions when time permits.
- Accurately lists items onto Shopgoodwill.com and/or EBay when time permits.
- Polishes and restores items that require attention
- Runs daily shipping pick list report.
- Locates items from shipping pick list and pulls them from inventory.
- Accurately weighs items.
- Determines the best means to ship items and packages them accordingly.
- Packages, labels, and ships items using carrier procedures.
- Completes daily shipping pick list report by providing the weight for each and gives it to E-Commerce Manager.
- Labels packages and prepares them to be picked up by in-store customers.

An assigned rotation allows you to plan around your work schedule.
JOB PERFORMANCE
Reviewed upon initial hire at 30, 60 and 90 days, and annually thereafter by the E-Commerce Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
E-Commerce Technicians, E-Commerce Item Handlers.
EDUCATION
Computer proficiency.
EXPERIENCE
Previous supervisory experience required.
Previous computer usage required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to complete necessary paperwork.
CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/SCREENING REQUIREMENTS
Subject to background check
Ability to work within the team concept.
Subject to random alcohol and drug testing as specified in the Drug Free Workplace Program.
