Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Moose Run Golf Course on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This is a Seasonal position Not-To-Exceed 31-OCT-2025. This position is Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility. Responsibilities Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, hot sandwiches, French fries, onion rings, other fry items, cold sandwiches, eggs, breakfast meats, hash browns, and other breakfast items. Prepares and cooks dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, paring, cutting, slicing, and dicing; weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular menu items; portions food for distribution and meal service, and covers, dates, and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment. Follows established sanitation procedures when handling food. Ensures that foods are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent bacteria growth. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam, or microwave heat sources. Disassembles, cleans, and assembles component parts and accessories according to safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment. Cleans other work areas and equipment, such as worktables floors, refrigerators, freezers, etc.. on an established cleaning schedule. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, or similar food activity. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. Must be physically able to frequently life objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handlers training. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a pre-employment physical. Must satisfactorily complete a Background Investigation Tier 1 Level. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must provide current driving record. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
