Summary About the Position: The incumbent in this position is responsible for the leadership, administration, and coordination of the safety investigation board (SIB) with worldwide deployment requirements to investigate mishaps involving industrial operations, tactical training events, parachute operations, vehicle operations, and other areas not related to manned flight, located in Fort Novosel, AL. Responsibilities Performs a variety of safety analysis duties as a safety and occupational health manager. Serves as the Board President for U.S. Army Ground mishap investigations conducted by the US Army Combat Readiness Center (USACRC). Ensure final investigation reports are complete, accurate, and submitted in current program of record in accordance with AR 385-10, DA PAM 385-40, and USACRC procedures. Responsible for the leadership, administration, and coordination of the safety investigation board (SIB). Provide oversight and subject matter expertise for Ground Investigation Branch within the Investigations Division. Provide recommendations focused on the prevention of mishaps. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes advising staff and leadership on matters concerning mishap investigation, mishap prevention and/or risk management; administering safety and occupational health procedures applicable to complex safety management responsibilities, such as: review of management directives, operational and maintenance instructions/techniques, and/or technical publications for adequacy and safety compatibility; and providing recommendations to critical programs requiring modification of safety management doctrine, regulations, and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Mishap/Accident Investigation Oral Communication Risk Management Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
