Description
This position is part of a technical services team that manages Public Safety technical systems daily. Your tasks include:
Analyzing and Resolving Issues: Work on software and hardware problems by analyzing, developing, implementing, and monitoring solutions.
Providing Technical Support: Assist both internal and external users with their technical needs.
Supporting Data Collection: Help with inter-agency data collection and processing.
Decision Making: Use your initiative and independent judgment to make decisions and solve problems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the security and reliability of public safety systems: This includes monitoring technology used for 911, dispatch, and emergency response to make sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
Provide technical support to end-users: Help users with their desktop systems, applications, and hardware. Diagnose and fix issues related to software, hardware, and network problems.
Manage software and hardware: Install, configure, and update desktop software and hardware components as needed.
Handle network cabling: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured network cabling systems.
Support mobile computing for emergency response: Assist with cellular networks, GPS, hardware, software, and mobile data management solutions used in public safety.
Perform additional tasks as needed: Take on related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Education and Experience: You need either an Associate’s Degree or specialized training equivalent to two years of college in computer science, mathematics, physics, information technology, or a related field. You also need at least two years of experience in IT, database management, software configuration, troubleshooting, or a similar area.
Experience with High Availability Systems: You should have proven experience in managing the integrity and security of systems that need to be highly reliable.
Driver’s License: A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
Background Checks: You must pass an NCIC background check and obtain a fingerprint-based security clearance from both the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's Office.
Supplemental Information
Communication Skills: You must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Technical Knowledge: You should have a good understanding of:
Enhanced and next-generation 911 systems
Emergency Medical and Fire Dispatch
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
National Incident Management System
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Retirees of the Investment Plan are eligible for renewed membership in the Investment Plan only. FRS reemployment rules apply for both.
