Summary About the Position: This position serves as a Senior Military Analyst (Lessons Learned) within the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL), Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Responsibilities As a Senior Military Analyst with a specialty in Lessons Learned, you will perform the following duties: Perform analysis that produces sound conclusions and recommendations in the form of observations, best practices, or lessons learned that support the continuing evolution of strategic, operational, and tactical requirements of the Army. Research, develop, write, edit, and disseminate lessons learned information and products: quarterly trend reports in accordance with AR 11-33 requirements, studies, training support packages, handbooks, and newsletters. Plan,write and publish the results of analysis in the form of handbooks, newsletters, articles and other forms of media as appropriate/directed to include issue resolution and presentation to the Army Forum. Review, process, and capture in the Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS) information received from actual military operations. Capture relevant lessons learned from unit rotations, mission rehearsal exercises, and actual operations and prepare them for dissemination to the Army as part of the overall lessons learned integration process. Interact with Combat Training Center Operations Group staff and Observer-Coach-Trainer teams to collect observations, after action reviews, and take-home packets from rotational unit training and review for lessons, best practices, and trends. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) performing complex research and studies across the three levels of war (tactical/operational/strategic) pertaining to combat operations or training exercises; (2) collecting, writing, editing, disseminating and archiving lessons and best practices via studies, handbooks, and bulletins; and (3) participating in joint, multinational, and interagency engagements to share lessons and best practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). *All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closingdate of the announcements. For this job, you must meet thequalification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
