Convey Health Solutions Senior Software Engineer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

OVERVIEW We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with a minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in software development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in Java/Scala. This role entails active involvement across all stages of the software development life cycle, encompassing requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance for projects within our organization. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will serve as a mentor and collaborator, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team. Upholding rigorous standards, you will guide fellow engineers towards achieving excellence and resolving intricate technical challenges while actively contributing to the advancement of our technological capabilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Design, develop, and maintain software applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. * Ensure the security, confidentiality, availability, and integrity of client information throughout the development lifecycle. * Monitor technological advancements for their impact on system security and ensure organizational adaptation and compliance. * Contribute to the architectural design and implementation of software systems, leveraging best practices and emerging technologies. * Establish procedures for providing backup personnel for key system security functions in the event of absence or departure. * Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, define technical solutions, and deliver value-added features. * Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning. * Actively participate in Agile methodologies and processes, demonstrating a strong understanding of end-to-end software development. * Fill gaps in development as needed, exhibiting hands-on expertise in Java/Scala programming. * Collaborate with project managers to estimate project timelines, identify dependencies, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and deliverables. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. * 5+ years of solid experience in software engineering, with a focus on architecture and software design. * Strong understanding of design patterns and their application in software development. * Demonstrated experience in motivating members and fostering a collaborative environment. * Passion for continuous learning and researching new technologies. * Excellent hands-on experience in Java/Scala programming. * Experience with microservices architecture, including designing, developing, and deploying microservices-based applications. * Proven ability to engage with both technology and business stakeholders to drive architectural alignment with organizational objectives. * Familiarity with AWS services and deploying data solutions on cloud platforms. * Have a background in back-end technologies, including API Rest Interfaces & SQL. * Experience working with healthcare data, including but not limited to eligibility, claims, payments, and risk adjustment datasets. * Strong programming/debugging skills, with a hands-on approach * Relevant certifications in AWS or software engineering would be a plus. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for compliance with all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations affecting Company. * Responsible for participating in quality assurance, compliance and in-service and continuing education activities as requested by Company. * Responsible for performing other duties and responsibilities as required. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP x Position has no supervisory responsibilities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Strong proficiency in Java/Scala. * Good understanding of microservices architecture, AWS services, containerized deployments, and Kubernetes * Experience in healthcare data domains, including eligibility, claims, payments, and risk adjustment datasets. * Ability to adapt to changing technological environments. * Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. * Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. * Commitment to quality assurance and accuracy in work product. * Capacity to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines effectively. * Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. * Willingness to contribute ideas for process improvement in software engineering. * Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. * Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work. * Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. * Ability to interact professionally with a variety of individuals. * Ability to work in an environment with potential interruptions. * Capacity to manage multiple simultaneous tasks with individual timeframes and priorities. Computer Equipment and Software Requirements This position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows or macOS environment. Must possess strong familiarity with office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Our teams also utilize Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation purposes. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work takes place in a standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Tasks involve the ability reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position is remote 100 %. Travel to the Chicago office for planned events occurs approximately 1- 3 times per year.
