Insight Global is partnering with a Department of Transportation contractor to recruit for an Intelligent Transportation Systems Project Manager. This is a direct placement role working full time for our client.

This is based in the Ft. Lauderdale/ Miami, FL area. There is travel required

The ITS Project Manager will be responsible for interacting and collaborating on department of transportation (DOT) and FDOT projects as they pertain to roadway enhancements and ITS implementations.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management: Oversee scheduling, planning, and execution of ITS and roadway projects. Ensure timely completion of projects within budget.

Change Orders: Manage and process change orders, track materials, labor, and costs.

Contractor Coordination: Communicate effectively with prime contractors and subcontractors. Ensure all parties are aligned with project goals and timelines.

Technical Expertise: Understand and manage highway lighting, electrical cabinets, barrier walls, underground cabling, and toll booth systems.

Field Work: Regularly visit job sites to interact with crews, ensure adherence to schedules, and maintain project quality.

Budget Management: Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project progress, materials, labor, and costs. Prepare reports as needed.

Skills and Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in roadway construction environments

DOT experience is required (Highway lighting, electrical cabinets, barrier walls, underground cabling)

Hands on experience with ITS systems / tools (Road weather information systems, managed/express lane projects, fiber optic networks, LED Signage, CCTV detectors, etc)

Background in signal technology or electrical engineering preferred

Strong understanding of construction project management, including blueprint reading, scheduling, and budgeting. Familiarity with asphalt paving, traffic light installation, and working with electrical contractors.

Experience with Primavera P6 and Bluebeam / Revu is a plus. null
