Responsibilities Reviews modification packages for completeness and accuracy. Prepares draft correspondence on contractual matters. Research and records weather data and monitor the weather evaluations for the contracts. Verifies that contract close-out requirements have been met. Performs periodic quality assurance inspection of Contractor's construction operations to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications and adhere to acceptable construction practices and workmanship. Analyzes existing contract document with respect to completion schedules and evaluates all revisions made thereafter to establish new contract provisions. Responsible for the checking and verifying quantity computations submitted by Contractors for payment requests submitted periodically. Participates in the receipt, review, and storage of samples of construction materials submitted by Contractors in compliance with requirements of contract plans and specifications. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) contract administration duties to include preparing change requests and construction cost estimates; 2) field engineering duties to include performing Quality Assurance (QA) field representative duties and providing advice to field personnel on scheduling requirements; and 3) reviewing contractors' proposals. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. The work also involves regular field visits to heavy construction sites. Exposure to environmental hazards such as dust, chemicals, bacteria, toxic particulates, machinery, adverse weather, noise and irregular terrain. Requires work in outside elements with adverse weather conditions including heat or cold, walking over slippery, rough and uneven surfaces. This position requires climbing, using ladders and man-lifts, stooping, bending, climbing on roofs or elevated work areas such as scaffolding, standing for long lengths of time and other conditions typically associated with construction sites. The work requires some physical exertion such as climbing stairs and recurring lifting of light to moderately heavy items weighing less than 50 pounds. This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by the employer. PPE may include protective clothing such as hard hat, steel toed boots, eye and ear protection as appropriate.
