Description of Work Unit

CEMML is a research, education, and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at CSU . CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on the Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and other CSU departments to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations.

Red River National Wildlife Refuge consists of several units in the Red River Valley in northwestern Louisiana, providing habitat for waterfowl, wading birds, songbirds, and other native wildlife species. Biologists at Red River NWR conserve wildlife habitat while also facilitating public use, including recreational and educational activities. Additionally, Red River NWR Field Biologists support species and habitat management at Barksdale Air Force Base ( AFB ).

Barksdale AFB is located adjacent to Shreveport and Bossier City, just across the Red River, and is an integral part of the local communities. The base has a longstanding relationship with the community, evident in their air shows, marathons, and military appreciation events throughout Northwest Louisiana.
