Position Summary

The Veterinary healthy System ( VHS ) Content Writer is responsible for developing and implementing compelling written content that supports the internal and external communication needs of the VHS , which includes the Companion Animal Hospital, Equine Hospital, Livestock and Large Animal Hospital, Veterinary Diagnostics Laboratory, and Equine Reproduction Laboratory. This position focuses on storytelling, crafting engaging narratives that highlight the impact of veterinary care, research, and educations within the VHS . The Content Writer will work closely with leadership, faculty, staff, and marketing teams to create content that enhances the visibility of VHS services, strengthens employee engagement, and promotes the mission of advancing Veterinary Medicine.

Position Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, Journalism, Public relations, English, or a related field.

  • Two years of experience in writing, storytelling, or content creations for an organization, institutions, or publication.

  • Strong Editorial skills, including the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling narratives.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in veterinary medicine, healthcare, science communication, or higher education.

  • Knowledge of AP Style or other professional writing guidelines

  • Familiarity with digital communication tools, including content management systems, email marketing platforms, and social media scheduling tools.

  • Experience conducting interview and writing feature stories or profiles

  • Demonstrated photography and/or video storytelling skills.

  • Ensure consistency in messaging and alignment with University Branding style guidelines
