Description of Work Unit

The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB accredited business school which enrolls more than 2,600 undergraduate students in ten business concentrations and approximately 1,500 graduate students across multiple graduate programs. While we are the largest undergraduate and graduate major on campus, we strive to create a small college environment.

The College of Business Career Management Center ( CMC ) provides comprehensive career services to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni, of Colorado State University’s College of Business. Services include career counseling, assessment and development, internship and job search assistance, hosting of employer engagement and recruiting events, instruction of career development courses, marketing and outreach that facilitates student and employer connections, and cultivating employer relationships that lead to successful career outcomes for students.

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager of Employer Relations, under the supervision of the Manager of Employer Relations, will assist in developing and executing strategies to cultivate and nurture employer relationships that lead to successful career outcomes for business students.

This role will work alongside the Manager of Employer Relations to oversee employer relations activities that strategize the cultivation, outreach, and engagement of employer partners through career fairs, networking events, panel discussions, informational tabling, mentoring, and other programming that facilitates connections between employers and students. In collaboration with team members, this role will also lead the marketing and outreach strategy of events and programming that engages employers to ensure alignment with department strategic goals.

This role will contribute to a fast-paced environment that prioritizes providing an exceptional level of customer service to a variety of diverse constituents both internal and external (employers, students, existing and prospective donors, faculty and staff, parents and families, alumni and industry partners).

Must have the ability to flex hours to meet the needs of the job, including some evenings throughout the semester.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; Career Management Center will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in marketing people, products, or services to external clients, business development, and/or recruiting.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with relationship management and cultivating partnerships

  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; Career Management Center will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • A degree in business administration, communications, journalism, public relations, or a similarly related field.

  • Professional commitment to CSU’s Principles of Community (Inclusion, Integrity, Respect, Service, Social Justice)

  • 3+ years’ experience in marketing people, products, and/or services to external clients and/or business development

  • 2+ years’ experience in event planning for external/internal clients

  • Experience planning and executing career events within a career services office within higher education

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills used to build partner relationships

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, follow-through, and attention to detail

  • Experience/knowledge working with Handshake

Duty/Responsibility

  • Conducts outreach to existing and prospective employer partners with the goal of identifying and promoting career opportunities for students/alumni of the College of Business.

  • Serves as knowledgeable key contact to promote CSU’s College of Business to encourage employers to leverage the CMC’s services including posting jobs and internships, attending career events, building visibility and brand recognition with students as it relates to strengthening hiring pipelines for students, and discussing additional invested partnership opportunities.

  • Manages the collection and communication of data related to events and employer activities, within Handshake and the Salesforce systems to inform decisions on prospective corporate partnerships that may fill gaps and/or respond to industry and economic trends.

  • As a leader on the Employer Relations team, this role will exhibit initiative and influence in reaching out to prospective corporate partners with a goal of developing strategic, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnerships that lead to successful student outcomes.

  • Collaborates with other COB centers and academic departments to foster deepened corporate relations and engagement with the College, representing the CMC from the perspective of increasing signature experiences, internships, and job opportunities for students.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Works alongside the Manager of Employer Relations to oversee employer relations activities including planning and coordinating the logistical details of career fairs, networking events, panel discussions, information tables, informational interviews.

  • In collaboration with team members, leads the marketing and outreach strategy of events and programming that engages employers to ensure alignment with department strategic goals.

Oversees and collaborates with the Marketing and Outreach Specialist who supports the execution of the strategy through marketing and outreach efforts.

  • Oversees the creation and distribution of visually engaging, in-brand collateral materials for all events. Assists in the execution of 20 -30 career events per semester.

  • Partners closely with the COB Marketing and Communications Department to understand and communicate with the client base including employers, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Tracks and submits department events to calendars and marketing collateral to College-wide screens for promotional purposes

  • Contributes to a fast-paced environment that prioritizes providing an exceptional level of customer service to a variety of diverse constituents both internal and external (employers, students, existing and prospective donors, faculty and staff, parents and families, alumni and industry partners).
