Continental BestDrive Assistant Retread Manager in Forest Park, Georgia

The Assistant Retread Manager will assist the Retread Manager by performing retread functions at a commercial tire facility. The assistant manager will run operation of the Retread facility when the Retread Manager is not available. The Assistant Retread Manager will also support plant personnel by implementing new products and processes, resolving product performance issues and achieve cost savings through improvement initiatives. The Assistant Retread Manager will drive activities that involve facilitating tire builds, analyzing data, and suggest areas of improvement to meet assigned goals for the retreading operation. This position functions in a manufacturing environment at a commercial tire facility with the following job duties:

Essential Duties:

  • Assist the Plant Manager in providing safety, quality and production leadership for all plant associates

  • Monitors plant productivity and ensures that quality, productivity and efficiency are in accordance with Company specifications.

  • Maintains production schedules, control production, and control quality of production

  • Works in coordination with the Retread Manager in matters involving hiring, orientation, training, development, supervision and discipline of plant personnel and truck drivers.

  • Implements policies and procedures of operation in the plant.

  • Train, develop and motivate your employees.

  • Maintains staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

  • Control of casings and tread rubber inventory including the purchase of tread rubber.

  • Control of all plant expenses and purchases.

  • Ensures that plant operations follow all safety practices and regulations.

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the plant.

  • Performs truck route scheduling to all other Company locations for tire distribution.

  • Ensures that equipment and vehicles are properly maintained.

  • Assists in monitoring production costs in plant to protect profitability.

• Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time, which may include light and heavy lifting, including commercial tires and wheels, standing, bending, and squatting

• Manage all safety, health and environmental processes by conducting safety huddles, leading by safety- first culture, and reporting and sending all required paperwork for any injuries and accidents to management.

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws

• Must be able to manage a result oriented and fast paced environment.

• Must be goal oriented and able to consistently meet quality and production requirements.

• Must possess a mechanical aptitude.

• Some shift work and/or work on Saturdays may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver’s license

  • 6 years of retreading experience

  • minimum of 2 years supervision experience.

  • Some shift work and/or work on Saturdays may be required.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Basic math skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Multitasking

  • Must be willing to follow all safety procedures and work in a safe manner.

  • Must be able to manage a results oriented and fastpaced environment.

  • Must be goal oriented and able to consistently meet quality and production requirements.

  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College Degree

  • 5+ years’ experience as a supervisor in the tire retread industry

  • 5 years’ experience managing and leading people and/or projects

  • Microsoft Office- Intermediate

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work hours are generally 7am-5pm Monday – Friday. Saturday and evenings as needed; may have little to no advance notice.

  • This position operates in all types of indoor and outdoor work environments, therefore exposure to heat and cold is to be expected.

  • While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand, bend, climb, lift and walk.

  • Required to wear various forms of protective equipment (safety shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.).

  • Comply with OSHA regulations and safety requirements.

  • Required to lift 75-100 lbs. routinely; may be required to occasionally lift, up to 150 lbs. individually.
