Job Summary

Job Title: Kitchen Production Clerk

FSLA Status: Hourly

Immediate Supervisor: Deli Department Manager

Provides assistance to the Deli Department Manager by working closely with all deli associates in an effort to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed, department goals are being obtained, and associates' needs are being met. Contributes to store sales and profitability by effectively managing all aspects of the deli kitchen operations, to include but not limited to: labor, expenses, stock levels, guest service, and morale.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides excellent services to all guests

  • Assists guests with finding items they are looking for on and off the sales floor

  • Takes and executes special orders and requests

  • Answers the telephone and assists callers using proper phone etiquette

  • Addresses guest concerns with prep and kitchen made items, and resolves issues when a guest is not satisfied with the service or product received

  • Ensures all production standards are being met in the Deli Kitchen

  • Makes decisions on production levels by studying weekly movement report (items sold) for salads and sandwiches

  • Fills the knee knockers, heat and eat sections, tray and dip wall, and all special orders

  • Ensures that temperatures are being taken on hot bar and salad bar

  • Recipe control

  • Ensures that recipes are being followed step by step

  • Monitors dates and freshness of every product

  • Shrinks the items that are outdated

  • Ensures that products are dated and initialed in the cooler/freezer

  • Oversees product presentation, cleanliness of kitchen and food-safety requirements Ensures that cooler and freezers are consistently clean and organized

  • Blast chiller kept cleaned and cooling logs kept up to date

  • Contributes to overall cleanliness of the department by picking up, organizing and cleaning work areas including shelves and sales floor as needed

  • Required to maintain food safety logs

  • Ensures all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% at 10 am and 5 pm

  • Executes Special Orders by following Special Order Tray Building Procedures

  • Produces Step by Step Dinners by following detailed instruction sheets

  • Builds party trays according to the Party Planning Guide

  • Has knowledge of and follows all Kitchen Production Books

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability to perform the essential functions.

  • High School Education or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must be food safe certified (an actual food safety certification)

  • Ability to motivate a team of individuals

  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel

  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment

  • Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies

  • Must posses the ability to apply on-the job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises. Also requires proper training and knowledge of the following

  • equipment/procedures: slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, baler, mixer, grinder, oven, and sham

  • Knowledge of the retail food business, thorough knowledge of perishable department operations, and must be able to make timely and effective decisions

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Standing for a long period of time, bending, stooping, and kneeling regularly

  • Full range of upper body motion

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis

  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures

    WORK SCHEDULE

  • Kitchen Production Clerk I is part time and can work shifts from 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm

  • Kitchen Production Clerk II is full time and can work shifts from 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm
